Civil War Memorial

I worked with designer Gary Blakeley, carver Aileen-Anne Brannigan, and McKeon Stone to make this memorial for the soldiers of Óglaigh na hÉireann who died during the Civil War. The Defence Forces produced a fine video that chronicles the ideas and work behind this memorial available here.

Like many Irish people, I have a family connection to the Civil War through my grandfather, Christy Byrne. It is a great honour to have played a part in the manufacture of this symbolic object.
